Resident Evil is one of the most popular and entertaining series of gaming history. Beginning in the early 90’s, Resident Evil quickly became a treasure of admiration among gamers. Resident Evil 2 boosted the series even more. Resident Evil 4 evolved the series with the famous over-the-shoulder that so many other developers copy today.
Resident Evil 5 gave co-op for the first (and only) time. Resident Evil 6 was a mess. Resident Evil 7 brought back Resident Evil in the most vengeful way; even causing gamers to cry about how the game was too scary. Resident Evil 8 brought less horror and more action; although the doll house gave gamers memories of just how scary Resident Evil can still be.
Resident Evil 7 and 8 was the story of Ethan and his family. Beginning in Louisiana and heading to a town in Europe where the beginnings of Resident Evil were revealed. Ethan became a beloved character. His daughter Rose had a small playthrough and she lived in the end. Will she take over Resident Evil 9?
Of course there are rumors floating around; rumors strong enough to not even bother with such thought. But still it’s fun and to wonder what will Resident Evil be about? We haven’t seen Claire in a long time; maybe it’s good to bring her back into the game. Leon, another beloved character who was last seen in the RE4 remake and a movie, could come back too. Chris was last scene getting ready to hunt down another organization; should this be next?
Resident Evil 6 had almost every character there and it crashed and burned. It would be cool to have different characters coming together, but the game design and structure would have to play perfectly which each one. It seems RE shines when there are teams of characters or one lonely one.
Resident Evil 8 went a bit into the supernatural and less zombie. Resident Evil 9 could go more into the supernatural but would there need to be some sort of magic defense? Of course there could a tech/science supernatural way that could be repeated from RE8.
Resident Evil 9 should go more into horror like RE7. Whoever they allow to struggle through the depths of RE hell should very well struggle like never before. We’re not saying to make it a Soulsborne Horror game; we don’t need to die 800 times in the basement lol. The character should be very vulnerable. The monsters could evolve or even become more unstoppable then before. For example, let’s say you beat the monster, but you don’t shoot or stab it in the right place to actually keep it down. The moment the battle seems over and you can leave…BAM the monster gets back up and begins to chase you throughout the game until have the ability to kill it correctly. Maybe even monsters could double team you if you make the wrong choices or happen to go down a path that leads to a boss battle without you knowing (that sounds like FromSoftware).
Whatever the minds of Capcom decide, it will have to be the craziest addition yet to the series. What do you all think RE9 will be?
